Placer Union High School District is in Tricia's DNA as she is an alumna, and her grandparents, parents, and children have all attended its schools. For the last four years, she's watched from the sidelines as the current trustees turned their focus away from their own mission: focusing on our local students, teachers, staff, and schools. Now that her youngest son is on the cusp of leaving for college, Tricia wants to give back to a community that's supported her family for generations. Read more about Tricia here.
Why Tricia Is Running
Tricia Caspers is a PUHSD parent and graduate. She is a youth librarian, a former award-winning education reporter for local news, and writing instructor at Sierra College. Tricia is also a fourth-generation Placer County resident. Her grandparents met at Placer High School in the 1950s, and her parents met at Del Oro High School in the 1970s. In addition, Placer School for Adults had a profound and lasting positive effect on Tricia's family, as her mother earned her GED through the adult school. Tricia was the first person in her family to graduate from college, followed closely by her mom.
Tricia lives in Auburn with her husband of 21 years. Together, they have three grown children (one about to leave for college), and one small dog. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, bicycling, hiking, and sometimes fly fishing.
